VegasDrift events for me are a return to the beginning. Drifting was one of the first things I started shooting. Before I shot anything else I shot drift.
I find it calming out here. The sound of the engines is deafening. The air is full of smoke and tire debris. It smells of gas exhaust and burnt rubber. But it's relaxing.
Drifting brings about an interesting challenge while shooting as well. You need an in-focus shot of this object sliding sideways that shows action. It's almost like what I image hunting to be like. You track an object in the distant waiting for the perfect moment to shoot. If I shake, the driver changes lines or strong breeze hit my shot is ruined. But when everything lines up properly the shots are amazing.
